Tom, Susan and I
just returned from a wonderful family reunion in the Arizona desert this past weekend where we met up with family from as far as Berlin to celebrate Melissa Lowry and David Sharp’s love for and commitment to each other! We all had a great time together!
Take some time to view the slideshow below for a taste of the events. The first slide is a look out our bedroom window on the morning Susan and I left for Tucson, Friday April 7 – note the snow on the ground… We arrived shortly before midnight and woke up Saturday morning in our private casita at the La Posada Lodge to the delightful sound of doves cooing, views of palm trees reaching for the blue skies above, lush vegetation, a delicious breakfast, and discovering Malcolm and Julia (with passenger) in the dining area of our accommodations.
Many of us gathered at Melissa’s father (and Susan’s older brother) Hal and Carol’s house just a mile away and went on a long hike through the Arizona desert foothills, then joined with a greatly expanded wedding party at David’s family home nestled in the mountains overlooking Tucson where I took lots of pictures of vistas, landscaping, flora, family, friends and festivities.
Sunday was the Big Day!
After breakfast at the lodge with Malcolm and Julia, joined by Tom and daughter Megan who had arrived Saturday night, we spent the middle of the day lounging and feasting around the pool and kitchen at Hal and Carol’s. We then all headed out for a brief siesta and getting ready for the wedding, which turned out to be a very gracious and intimate gathering in Tucson’s historic Kingan Gardens.
